  1. WEEK 5 ( From 24 / 9 to 28 / 9 / 2018) UNIT 3: WHAT DAY IS IT TODAY? LESSON 3 (Part 1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - pronounce correctly and distinguish the sound of the letters “ir”, the sound of the letters “ur” and the sound of the letter “er”. - chant about weekly activities. -Ss will be able to develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, computer . 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures * Warm up. - Greeting. - Let Ss play the game “Noughts and Crosses” to help them review the way to ask and answer questions about weekly activities. Activity 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 22 and look at the letters “ir”, “ur”and “er”. - Tell them that they are going to listen to the tape and pay attention to the way to pronounce correctly the sounds of letters “ir”, the sound of the letters “ur” and the sound of the letter “er”. - Stick the cards of the words with the letters on the board and ask Ss to look at the words on them. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and practice pronouncing the focused sounds. (in isolation and in words) - Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and sentences in chorus three times. - Call on some Ss to repeat the words and sentences in front of the class. T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their pronunciation.) Activity 2. Listen and circle. Then say aloud. - Have Ss look at the boxes in part 2 on page 22. - Help Ss distinguish the words and the way to do the task by asking some eliciting questions.
  2. - Let Ss listen to the tape and do the task, then exchange the answers with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answer. - Check the answers with the whole class. - Invite some Ss to read aloud the completed sentences. - Listen and give feedback. T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) Activity 3. Let’s chant. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 3 on page 22 and ask some eliciting questions. - Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask Ss to look at it. - Tell Ss that they are going to chant. - Play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the chant. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Let Ss listen the recording and sing the whole chant. - Call on some ss to sing the chant in front of the class. Assessement: - Ss’s vocabulary about days: you remeber the days of a week and weekly activities. - Ss’s structure: you can use the question “ ” exactly - Ss’s chant: you chant beautifully/well/wonderfully ___ UNIT 3: WHAT DAY IS IT TODAY? LESSON 3 (Part 4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - ask and answer questions about weekly activities. - Ss will be able to write about themselves. -Ss will be able to develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures * Warm up. - Greeting. - Ask Ss to sing the chant in part 3 to motive them before starting the lesson. Activity 1. Read and answer.
  3. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 4 on Page 23. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the information they have to answer. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task individually and then exchange their answers with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answerswith the whole class and give feedback. Key: 1. Her name is Mai. 2. Today is Monday. 3. No, she doesn’t. 4. She goes swimming on Saturdays and visits her grandparents on Sundays. Activity 2. Write about you. - Have Ss look at part 5 on page 23. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. Assessment criteria: - Correct words - Grammar - Spelling T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, vocabulary) Activity 3. Project. - Have Ss look at the part 6 on page 23 and ask some eliciting questions. - Tell Ss that they are going to interview one of their classmates about what he/she does at the weekend. - Let Ss work in group of 4 to interview their classmates. - Call on some group to report the results in front of the class. S1: What do you do on Saturday? S2: I . S1: What do you do on Sunday? S2: I Ss & T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) ___ UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY? Lesson 1(Part 1-2) I. Objectives:

Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, computer. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures * Warm up. - Greeting. - Set the scene and ask some questions to elicit the content of the new lesson. Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat Discover the pictures + How many people are there in this picture? + Who is this? + What is her /his name? - Listen to the recording a few times - listen and repeat line by line - say the words in each bubble Activity 2. Point and say. - Have Ss look at the pictures in part 2 on page 24. - Present the new words by using different techniques + October: tháng Mười + First: ngày mùng 1 + Second: ngày mùng 2 + Third: ngày mùng 3 + Fourteenth: ngày 14 + Twenty-second: ngày 22 + Thirsty-first:ngày 31 - Introduce ordinal numbers using to talk about the dates. - After eliciting each word, T models 3 times and gets Ss to do choral. Then, T calls Ss to repeat individually. - Ask Ss to copy down those words in their notebooks - Present the way to ask and answer questions about dates. E.g. Nam: What is the date today? Tom: It’s the first of October. - Do the task with one student as an example. E.g: Teacher: What is the date today? Hoa: It’s the second of October. - Ask Ss to work in pairs, one student ask and another one answer the questions about dates by using the given cues. Then Ask Ss to change the roles.
  5. - Select some pairs of Ss to demonstrate the task in front of the class. - Listen and give feedback. Assessment: SS’assessment: - You listen and pay attention to their questions and answers; their voice & pronunciation; their intonation, their communication (Do they communicate or only read a question?) ___ UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY? LESSON 1 (Part 3-4-5) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - ask and answer questions about dates. - listen for specific information. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, computer. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures * Warm up. - QA. - What is the date today? - It’s Activity 1. Listen and tick. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 3 on Page 25. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the dates in the pictures in this task. - Explain the way to do the task. - Play the tape three times and let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Play the tape the last time to check with the whole class. Activity 2 . Look and write. - Have Ss look at part 4 on page 25. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them review the way to write the sentence about dates. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss work in pairs to do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback . Assessment criteria: - Correct words

Let’s sing. - - read sentences and words of the song - Play the recording and listen to the song. - do the actions and clap their hands after the song - Have class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation.
