- GRADE 4 WEEK 23 ( From 11 / 2 to 15 / 2 / 2019) Date of teaching: February 11th, 2019 (4A, 4B) UNIT 13: WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MILK? LESSON 3 (Part 1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to : - Ss will be able to pronounce correctly and distinguish the sound of the letter “f” and the sound of the letters “sh”. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: Student’s and teacher’s book, computer. III. New lesson: A. Warm up - Greeting. - Let Ss play the game “Find someone who” to help them review the way to ask and answer questions about favourite food and drink, offer someone food or drink and accept/decline someone’s offer. B. New lesson 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 22 and look at the letters “f” and “sh”. - Tell them that they are going to listen to the tape and pay attention to the way to pronounce correctly the sounds of letter “f” and the sound of the letter “sh”. - Stick the cards of the words with the letters on the board and ask Ss to look at the words on them. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and practice pronouncing the focused sounds. (in isolation and in words) - Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and sentences in chorus three times. - Call on some Ss to repeat the words and sentences in front of the class. - T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) 2. Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud. - Have Ss look at the sentences in part 2 on page 22. - Help Ss distinguish the given words and the way to do the task by asking some eliciting questions. - Let Ss listen to the tape and do the task. 1
- GRADE 4 - Call on some Ss to give their answer. - Check the answers with the whole class. - Invite some Ss to read aloud the completed sentences. - Listen and give feedback. 3. Let’s chant. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 3 on page 22 and ask some eliciting questions. - Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask Ss to look at it. - Tell Ss that they are going to chant. - Play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the chant. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Let Ss listen the recording and sing the whole chant. - Call on some ss to sing the chant in front of the class. ___ Date of teaching: February 11th, 2019 (4A) February 12th , 2019 (4B) UNIT 13: WOULD YOU LIKE SOME MILK? LESSON 3 (Part 4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to : - ask and answer questions about favourite food and drink. - Write about your favourite food and drink. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: Student’s and teacher’s book, computer. III. New lesson: A. Warm up - Greeting. - Ask Ss to sing the chant in part 3 to motive them before starting the lesson. B. New lesson 4. Read and complete. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 4 on Page 23. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the given information in the table. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task individually and then exchange their answers with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. 2
- GRADE 4 Key: Linda: beef/orange juice Peter: chicken/lemonade 5. Write about your favourite food and drink. - Have Ss look at part 5 on page 23. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give the information they have used to write about their favourite food and drink. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. Assessment criteria: - Correct words - Grammar - Spelling T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, vocabulary) 6. Project. - Have Ss look at the part 6 on page 23 and ask some eliciting questions. - Tell Ss that they are going to interview their classmates about their favourite food and drink, and then report the results to the class. - Let Ss work in group of 4 to do the task. - Call on some Ss to report the results to the class. - Give feedback. ___ Date of teaching: February 13th, 2019 (4A) February 14h , 2019 (4B) UNIT 14: WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE? LESSON 1 (Part 1-2) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to : - ask and answer questions about someone’s physical appearance. (Strong Ss can speak fluently, pronounce and remember the words well. Weak Ss can speak the dialogue and model sentences). What does he/she look like? He’s/She’s - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: Student’s and teacher’s book, computer. III. New lesson: A. Warm up 3
- GRADE 4 - Greeting. - Ask Ss to do the task “Matching” to help them review the sentence patterns they have learnt in unit 13. B. New lesson 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 24 and look at the pictures in part 1. - Ask some eliciting questions to help Ss guess what they will learn in the dialogue. - Ask Ss to look at the dialogue in the Student Book, listen to the recording of the dialogues. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen to the tape twice. - Ask Ss to listen and repeat in chorus three times. - Divide the class into 2 groups, one group repeats Lida’s part and another one repeats Phong’s one. Then change the roles. - Listen and give feedback. 2. Point and say. - Have Ss look at the pictures in part 2 on page 24. - Present the new words by using different techniques + tall: cao + short: thấp + slim: mảnh khảnh + old: già + young: trẻ - After eliciting each word, T models 3 times and gets Ss to do choral. Then, T calls Ss to repeat individually. - Ask Ss to copy down those words in their notebooks - Present the way to ask and answer questions about someone’s physical appearance. What does he/she look like? He’s/She’s - Do the task with one student as an example. Ex: Teacher: What does your father look like? Hai: He’s short. - Ask Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer questions about someone’s physical appearance by pointing the given pictures. Then Ask Ss to change the roles. 4
- GRADE 4 - Select some pairs of Ss to demonstrate the task in front of the class. - Listen and give feedback. T’assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can practice exactly. - Teacher listens and pays attention to their questions and answers; their voice & pronunciation; their intonation, their communication (Do they communicate or only read a question?) - T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) ___ Date of teaching: February 15th, 2019 (4A,4B) UNIT 14: WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE? LESSON 1 (Part 3-4-5) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to : - ask and answer questions about someone’s physical appearance. - listen for specific information. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: Student’s and teacher’s book, computer. III. New lesson: A. Warm up - Greeting. - Ask Ss to work in groups to ask and answer questions about someone’s physical appearance. B. New lesson 3. Listen and tick. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 3 on Page 25. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the physical appearance of the people in the pictures in this task. - Explain the way to do the task. - Play the tape three times and let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Play the tape the last time to check with the whole class. 4. Look and write. - Have Ss look at part 4 on page 25. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them review the way to ask and answer questions about someone’s physical appearance. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task. 5
- GRADE 4 - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. Key: 1. He’s tall. 2. She’s short. 3. They’re old 4. They’re young.
