- GRADE 4 WEEK 8 ( From 15 / 10 to 19 / 10 / 2018) UNIT 5: CAN YOU SWIM? LESSON 3 (Part 1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - pronounce correctly and distinguish the sound of the letter “s” and the sound of the letters “sw”. - Develop listening ,speaking and reading skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, computer. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: QA. S1: What can you do? S2: I can swim. S1: Can you play the piano? S2: No, I can. Activity 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 34 and look at the letters “s” and “sw”. - Tell them that they are going to listen to the tape and pay attention to the way to pronounce correctly the sound of letter “s” and the sound of the letters “sw”. - Stick the cards of the words with the letters on the board and ask Ss to look at the words on them. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and practice pronouncing the focused sounds. (in isolation and in words) - Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and sentences in chorus three times. - Call on some Ss to repeat the words and sentences in front of the class. T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their pronunciation) Activity 2. Listen and number. Then say aloud. - Have Ss look at the sentences in part 2 on page 34.- Help Ss distinguish the sentences and the way to do the task by asking some eliciting questions. - Let Ss listen to the tape and do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answer. - Check the answers with the whole class. 1
- GRADE 4 - Invite some Ss to read aloud the completed sentences. - Listen and give feedback. Assessment: - Ss’ uderstanding about the content of listening task. Activity 3. Let’s chant. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 3 on page 34 and ask some eliciting questions. - Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask Ss to look at it. - Tell Ss that they are going to chant. - Play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the chant. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Let Ss listen the recording and sing the whole chant. - Call on some ss to sing the chant in front of the class. Assessement: - Ss’s vocabulary: you remeber the vocabularies - Ss’s structure: you can use the question “ ” exactly - Ss’s chant: you chant beautifully/well/wonderfully ___ UNIT 5: CAN YOU SWIM? LESSON 3 (Part 4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - ask and answer questions about whether someone can do something. - write about yourself. - Develop speaking and writing skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, computer. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: chant can you sing. Activity 1. Read and complete. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 4 on Page 35. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the given pictures. - Explain the way to do the task. (They are going to read text and complete the information under each given picture.) - Let Ss do the task and then exchange their answers with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. 2

Assessment criteria: - Correct words - Grammar - Spelling T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, vocabulary) Activity3 . Project. - Have Ss look at the part 6 on page 35 and ask some eliciting questions. - Tell Ss that they are going to interview three friends and complete the chart. - Let Ss work in group of 4 to do the task. - Call on some Ss to report their information they have interviewed. - Give feedback. T’assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can practice exactly. Ss & T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) ___ REVIEW 1 I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - revise the topics, the language competences, the language knowledge (phonics, vocabulary, sentence patterns) they have learnt from unit 1to unit 5. - Develop listening and reading skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, cassettes. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: talk about yourself. 3
- GRADE 4 My name is Lan. I can skip. I can play the piano. I can sing and dance. I can’t play volleyball. What about you? Activity 1. Listen and tick. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 1 on Page 36. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the content of the pictures in this task. (Help Ss review the words and the way to pronounce them correctly to choose the correct answers.) - Explain the way to do the task. - Play the tape three times and let Ss work in pairs to do the task. - Call on some pairs to give their answers. - Play the tape the last time to check with the whole class. - Observe and give feedback. Assessment: - Ss’ uderstanding about the content of listening task. Activity 2. Read and write. - Have Ss look at part 2 on page 37. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them review the sentence patterns they have learnt from unit 1 to unit 5. - Explain the way to do the task. (They are going to read the text and answer the qustions.) - Let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. Assessment criteria: - Correct words - Grammar - Spelling T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, vocabulary Activity 3. Read and match. - Have Ss look at part 3 on page 37. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguih the given questions and given answers. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Sswork in groups to do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback ___ 4
- GRADE 4 REVIEW (cont.) I. Objectives: - By the end of this lesson, students will be able to review the knowledge from unit 1 to unit 5. - Develop all English skills II. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, cassettes, 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: greeting Activity 1. Look and write: - look at the pictures and guess the suitable words to fill. - complete the excercise. Report the answers . - Check and correct. Assessment criteria: - Correct words - Grammar - Spelling Activity 2. Write about you - Identify the text and what they are writing. - Read and get information to write about your friend - Trade their text within pairs or groups to compare together (close pairs / open pairs) - Comment with the partner - One student reads the answers aloud to the groups. - The others listen and give comments.
