  1. GRADE 4 WEEK 6 ( From 30/9 to 4/10 /2019) Date of teaching: September 30th, 2019.(4A,4B) UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY? Lesson 2(Part 1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to: - know 12 months in a year. - ask and answer questions about birthday, using When's your birthday? It's on the - Make a birthday circle for their family, introduce to the class practising speaking the dates and someone’s birthday. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, recording 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: Q-A What day is it today? What is the date today? T’s assessment (using the smiling card): Exact answer, good pronunciation, good intonation Exact answer, ok pronunciation, intonation (not good) Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat - discover the pictures + ? + ? - Listen to the recording a few times - listen and repeat line by line - say the words in each bubble - T elicits the sentence pattern When’s your birthday? It's on the fifth of March. Activity 2. Point and say Review the months of year + How many months are there in a year? + What are they? + Write down your notebook. T’s assessment: Go round and observe, correct on ss’writing. T sets the scene and lead to the structure: Use a calendar, circle a date and draw a birthday cake on it. Assessment: SS’assessment: - You listen and pay attention to their questions and answers; their voice & pronunciation; their intonation, their communication (Do they communicate or only read a question?) T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) Activity 3. Project (put in Porfolio): Birthday circle Write the date of birth of your family members. - Decorate the birthday cakes. (Write the dates on the cakes) Example: My birthday is on the fifth of June. - practice asking and answering about their family members' birthday Report to the class - This is my family. There are 4 people: , , , - I’m years old. My birthday’s - My father is His birthday is - My mother - My sister I will put this circle on the wall and everyone can see and remember. Listen and number. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at the pictures on page 27. - Help Ss to distinguish the dates in the pictures and guess the order of the picture. - Explain the way to do this task. (They’re going to listen to the tape and number) - Play the tape three times for Ss to listen and number. - Ask Ss to compare their answer with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Play the tape the last time to check with the whole class. Assessment: - Ss’ uderstanding about the content of listening task. Activity 2. Look and write. - Have Ss look at part 5 on page 27. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them review the way to write the sentences about someone’s birthday. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. LESSON 3 (Part 1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to: - know 12 months in a year. - pronounce correctly and distinguish the sound of the letters “th” and the sound of the letter “ch”. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, recording 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures 3
  4. GRADE 4 Warm up: - Let Ss play the game “Lucky Stars” to help them review the way to ask and answer questions about someone’s birthday. Activity 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 28 and look at the letters “th” and “ch”. - Tell them that they are going to listen to the tape and pay attention to the way to pronounce correctly the sounds of letters “th” and the sound of the letter “ch”. - Stick the cards of the words with the letters on the board and ask Ss to look at the words on them. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and practice pronouncing the focused sounds. (in isolation and in words) - Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and sentences in chorus three times. - Call on some Ss to repeat the words and sentences in front of the class. Activity 2. Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud. - Have Ss look at the sentences in part 2 on page 28. - Help Ss distinguish the given words and the way to do the task by asking some eliciting questions. - Let Ss listen to the tape and do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answer. - Check the answers with the whole class. - Invite some Ss to read aloud the completed sentences. - Listen and give feedback. Activity 3. Let’s chant. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 3 on page 28 and ask some eliciting questions. - Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask Ss to look at it. - Tell Ss that they are going to chant. - Play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the chant. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Let Ss listen the recording and sing the whole chant. - Call on some ss to sing the chant in front of the class. Assessement: - Ss’s vocabulary about months: you remeber the months in year. - Ss’s structure: you can use the question “ ” exactly. - you chant beautifully/well/wonderfully ___ 4

Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to: - know 12 months in a year. - ask and answer questions about someone’s birthday. - write an invitation card. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: QA Activity 1. Read and tick - read the email to find the information to answer the questions T: Can you write an email? Activity 2: Project: Inviting friends to your birthday.
