- GRADE 4 WEEK 21 ( From 21 / 1 to 25 / 1 / 2019) Date of teaching: January 21st , 2019 (4A,4B) UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO? LESSON 2(Part 1-2-3) I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: - to ask and answer questions about places to work. Using Where does he/she work? He/She works in - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: computer, CD tracks III. Procedures A. Warm – up: - Ask Ss to play the game “Matching” to help them review the sentence patterns they have learnt. (Matching the sentences with the pictures.) B. New lesson 1. Look, listen and repeat - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 14 and look at the pictures in part 1. - Ask some eliciting questions to help Ss guess what they will learn in the dialogue. - Ask Ss to look at the dialogue in the Student Book, listen to the recording of the dialogues. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen to the tape twice. - Ask Ss to listen and repeat in chorus three times. - Divide the class into 2 groups, one group repeats Nam’s part and another one repeats Mai’s part. Then change the roles. - Listen and give feedback. 2. Point and say. - Have Ss look at the pictures in part 2 on page 14. - Present the new words by using different techniques + factory: nhà máy + hospital: bệnh viện + field: đồng ruộng + office: văn phòng + clerk: nhân viên văn phòng - After eliciting each word, T models 3 times and gets Ss to do choral. Then, T calls Ss to repeat individually. - Ask Ss to copy down those words in their notebooks - Present the way to ask and answer questions about places to work. Where does he/she work? He/She works in - Do the task with one student as an example. E.g: Teacher: Where does your father do? 1
- GRADE 4 Thuy: He works in a hospital. - Ask Ss to work in pairs, one student ask and another answer questions about places to work by pointing the given cues. Then Ask Ss to change the roles. - Select some pairs of Ss to demonstrate the task in front of the class. - Listen and give feedback. 3. Let’s talk. - Let Ss work in group of 4 to practice the way to ask and answer questions about someone’s job and places to work. - Call on some groups to perform in front of the class. - Invite other groups to give feedback. - Check and give feedback. T’assessment: Go around and Observe if the students can practice exactly. - Teacher listens and pays attention to their questions and answers; their voice & pronunciation; their intonation, their communication (Do they communicate or only read a question?) - T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) ___ Date of teaching: January 21st , 2019 (5A) January 22nd , 2019 (5B) UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO? LESSON 2(Part 4-5-6) I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: - ask and answer questions about places to work. - listen for specific information to number the picture about places to work. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: computer, CD tracks III. Procedures A. Warm – up: - Ask Ss to do the role play to practice asking and answering questions about places to work by using the given cues. B. New lesson 4. Listen and number. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at the pictures on page 15. - Help Ss to distinguish the jobs and places in the pictures and guess the order of the picture. - Explain the way to do this task. (They’re going to listen to the tape and number) - Play the tape three times for Ss to listen and number. - Ask Ss to compare their answer with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Play the tape the last time to check with the whole class. 5. Look and write. 2
- GRADE 4 - Have Ss look at part 5 on page 15. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them review the way to write the sentences about someone’s job and places to work. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. Let’s play - Ask Ss that they are going to play the game “Pelmanism”. - Explain the way to play the game for Ss. - Let Ss play the game. ___ Date of teaching: January 23rd , 2019 (5A) January 24th , 2019 (5B) UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO? LESSON 3 (Part 1-2-3) I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: - pronounce correctly and distinguish the sound of the letters “ie” and the sound of the letters “ea”. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: computer, CD tracks III. Procedures A. Warm – up: -greeting - - Let Ss play the game “Lucky Stars” to help them review the way to ask and answer questions about places to work. B. New lesson 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 16 and look at the letters “ie” and “ea”. - Tell them that they are going to listen to the tape and pay attention to the way to pronounce correctly the sounds of letters “ie” and the sound of the letters “ea”. - Stick the cards of the words with the letters on the board and ask Ss to look at the words on them. 3
- GRADE 4 - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and practice pronouncing the focused sounds. (in isolation and in words) - Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and sentences in chorus three times. - Call on some Ss to repeat the words and sentences in front of the class. - T’s asessment: give oral comments (focus on their exact structure, pronunciation, interaction) 2. Listen and circle. Then say sentences with the circled. - Have Ss look at the given words in part 2 on page 16. - Help Ss distinguish the words and the way to do the task by asking some eliciting questions. - Let Ss listen to the tape and do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answer. - Check the answers with the whole class. - Invite some Ss to read aloud the sentences with the circled. - Listen and give feedback. 3. Let’s chant. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 3 on page 16 and ask some eliciting questions. - Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask Ss to look at it. - Tell Ss that they are going to chant. - Play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the chant. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Let Ss listen the recording and sing the whole chant. - Call on some ss to sing the chant in front of the class. ___ Date of teaching: January 25nd , 2019 (4A,4B) UNIT 12: WHAT DOES YOUR FATHER DO? LESSON 3 (Part 4-5-6) I.Objectives: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to: - to ask and answer questions about someone’s job and places to work. - write about the jobs of their family members and where they work. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids: computer, CD tracks III. Procedures A. Warm – up: -greeting - Ask Ss to sing the chant in part 3 to motive them before starting the lesson. B. New lesson 4. Read and complete. 4
- GRADE 4 - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 4 on Page 17. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the information they have to complete. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task individually and then exchange their answers with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answerswith the whole class and give feedback. Project. - Have Ss look at the part 6 on page 17 and ask some eliciting questions. - Tell Ss that they are going to interview two classmates about their parent’s jobs, and then tell class about them. - Let Ss work in group of 4 to interview their classmates. - Call on some group to report the results in front of the class. - Give feedback. ___ 5
