- GRADE 4 WEEK 2 ( From 3/9 to 7/9/ 2019) UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN LESSON 3 (Part 1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - pronounce correctly and distinguish the sound of the letter “l” and the sound of the letter “n”. - to develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, computer 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: - Greeting. - Let Ss play the game “Matching” to help them review sentence patterns they have learnt. Activity 1. Listen and repeat. - Ask Ss to open the Student’s Book on Page 10 and look at the letters “l” and “n”. - Tell them that they are going to listen to the tape and pay attention to the way to pronounce correctly the sound of letter “l” and the sound of the letter “n”. - Stick the cards of the words with the letters on the board and ask Ss to look at the words on them. - Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and practice pronouncing the focused sounds. (in isolation and in words) - Play the recording for Ss to listen and repeat the words and sentences in chorus three times. - Call on some Ss to repeat the words and sentences in front of the class. Activity 2. Listen and circle. Then write and say aloud. - Have Ss look at the boxes in part 2 on page 10. - Help Ss distinguish the words and the way to do the task by asking some eliciting questions. - Let Ss listen to the tape and do the task in pairs. - Call on some pairs to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class. - Invite some Ss to read aloud the completed sentences. - Listen and give feedback. 1
- GRADE 4 Activity 3. Let’s chant. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 3 on page 10 and ask some eliciting questions. Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board and ask Ss to look at it. - Teach the new words and the sentence in the song. + England + I’m from England. - Tell Ss that they are going to chant. - Play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the stress, the rhythm and the tune of the chant. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for Ss to repeat. - Let Ss listen the recording and sing the whole chant. - Call on some groups to sing the chant in front of the class. Criteria for Ss’assessment : Excellent Good Ok Design Spelling Presentation ___ UNIT 1: NICE TO SEE YOU AGAIN LESSON 3 (Part 4,5,6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - greet and respond to greetings formally. - write about themselves. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, computer 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures - Ask Ss to sing the chant in part 3 to motive them before starting the lesson. Assessement: - Ss’s vocabulary. - Ss’s structure: you can use the question “ ” exactly - Ss’s chant: you chant beautifully/well/wonderfully Activity 1 . Read and answer. 2
- GRADE 4 - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 4 on Page 11. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the information in the student’s cards. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task individually and then exchange their answers with their partners. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answerswith the whole class and give feedback. Activity 2. Write about you. - Have Ss look at part 5 on page 11. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. T’s assessment: Go round and observe, correct on ss’writing Activity 3 . Project. - Have Ss look at the part 6 on page 11 and ask some eliciting questions. - Tell Ss that they are going to make a card about themselves using the given cues. - Let Ss work in pairs to design their cards. - Call on some pairs to show their cards in front of the class. - Give feedback. Criteria for Ss’assessment : Excellent Good Ok Design Spelling Presentation ___ UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN Lesson 1(Part 1-2) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - ask and answer questions about where someone is from:Where are you from? I’m from (Strong Ss can speak fluently, pronounce and remember the words well. Weak Ss can speak the dialogue and model sentences). - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, cassette 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. 3
- GRADE 4 III. Procedures Warm up - Greeting. - Ask Ss to play the game “Noughts and Crosses” o help them review the sentence patterns they have learnt in unit 1. Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat Discover the pictures + How many people are there in this picture? + Who is this? + What is her name? - Listen to the recording a few times - listen and repeat line by line - say the words in each bubble. Activity 2. Point and say. - Have Ss look at the pictures in part 2 on page 12. - Present the new words by using different techniques + America: nước Mĩ + England: nước Anh + Australia: nước Úc + Malaysia: nước Ma-lay-sia + Japan: nước Nhật - After eliciting each word, T models 3 times and gets Ss to do choral. Then, T calls Ss to repeat individually. - Ask Ss to copy down those words in their notebooks - Present the way to ask and answer questions about where someone is from. E.g. Nam: Where are you from? Tom: I’m from England. - Do the task with one student as an example. E.g: Teacher: Where are you from? Hoa: I’m from Viet Nam. - Ask Ss to work in pairs, one student ask and another one answer the questions about where someone is from by using the given cues. Then Ask Ss to change the roles. - Select some pairs of Ss to demonstrate the task in front of the class. - Listen and give feedback. Assessment: SS’assessment: 4
- GRADE 4 - You listen and pay attention to their questions and answers; their voice & pronunciation; their intonation, their communication (Do they communicate or only read a question?) ___ UNIT 2: I’M FROM JAPAN LESSON 1 (Part 3-4-5) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson ss will: - ask and answer questions about where someone is from. - listen for specific information. - develop their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. II. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, computer, Picture. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. III. Procedures Warm up: - Ask Ss to play the game “What and where” to help them review the name of countries they have learnt. (America, Australia, England, Japan, Malaysia.) Activity 1. Listen and tick. - Ask Ss to open their books and look at part 3 on Page 13. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them distinguish the countries in the pictures in this task. - Explain the way to do the task. - Play the tape three times and let Ss do the task. - Call on some Ss to give their answers. - Play the tape the last time to check with the whole class. Activity 2. Look and write. - Have Ss look at part 4 on page 13. - Ask Ss some eliciting questions to help them review the way to write the sentence about where someone is from. - Explain the way to do the task. - Let Ss work in pairs to do the task. - Call on some pairs to give their answers. - Check the answers with the whole class and give feedback. T’s assessment: Go round and observe, correct on ss’writing. Activity 3. Let’s sing. - Have Ss look at the picture in part 5 on page 13 and ask some eliciting questions. - Stick the large-sized sheet of paper with the song on the board and ask Ss to look at it. (Show the song on the slide) 5
