- LESSON PLAN 5 WEEK 22 Date of preparing: January, 27th, 2018 Date of teaching: Tuesday afternoon, January, 30th, 2018 Class: 53, 52, 51 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME ? Lesson 2: Part 1,2,3 A/ Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask and answer questions about what a family member does in his/her free time, using What does your do in his/her free time? He/She Sentence patterns: What does your do in his/her free time? He/She Vocabulary: fishing, skating , camping B. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette, puppets. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. C. Procedures: I. Warm up. Play game - Gets students to joint into the activity. - T asks Ss to play game: “ Pass the scret” - Then T repeat how to play the game. - Ss play in two groups. - Introduces the new lesson. II. Presentation: 1. Look, listen and repeat. • Tell the class that they are going to read a story about Tony and Akiko. Tony is collecting information for his survey. Ask pupils to look at the pictures and elicit their answers to these questions: Who are the characters in the pictures? Where are they? What are they doing? (Tony and Akiko are in the park. In Picture a, Tony wants to ask Akiko some questions for his survey and she agrees. In Picture b, he asks what she does in her free time and she says she watches cartoons on TV. In Picture c, he goes on and asks How about your mother? What does she do in her free time? and Akiko answers She goes shopping. In Picture d, Tony thanks Akiko.) Teacher: Tran Thi Bach Tuyet

Then point at each picture and ask the question for them to practise saying the answer. • Ask pupils to practise asking and answering in pairs. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. • Select some pairs to act out the exchanges. Language notes: The verbs play, do and go are often used in talking about sports and games. • Play is used with ball games and board games. E.g. I often play table tennis. (Table tennis is a ball game.) Do you play chess? (Chess is a board game.) • Do is used for recreational activities and non-team sports without using a ball. E.g. Peter does karate every day. • Go is often used with activities that end in -ing. 3. Let’sE.g. I talkgo swimming twice a week. • Tell the class that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about what their family members do in their free time. • Get pupils to work in pairs and remind them to use the questions and answers in their books. • Set a time limit for them to practise. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. • Select some pairs to role-play the conversations in front of the class. Lesson 2 : Part 4,5,6 A/ Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask and answer about what a family member does in his/her free time B. Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. C. Procedures: I. Warm up. Slap the board - Play the game Slap the board - Ask Ss to prepare Paper to play II.Practice. 4. Listen and circle a, b or c. • - Tell the class that they are going to listen and circle a, b or c to complete the sentences. • Ask them to read the gapped sentences and guess the answers. • Play the recording for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. • Get pupils to read their answers in pairs before checking as a class. Write about what your family members do in their free time. • Tell the class that they are going to write about what their family members do in their free time. • Have them read the questions and check their understanding. • Set a time limit for them to do the task. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. • Get them to swap their answers with a partner and read them before inviting one or two pupils to read their answers aloud. Play it again for them to repeat line by line until they are familiar with the melody. Divide the class into two groups: one sings the questions and the other sings the answers. • Have them practise singing and doing actions in groups. • Invite two groups to perform the song: one group sings the questions and the other sings the answers. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm. C/ Application activities - T asks Ss to ask the question: What’s the matter with you? T ask Ss to present in front of on next lesson. Ask students to read each sentence in the chant - Play the chant again and asks students to read - Ask students to read the chant, combine with slap their hands. - Divide class into groups to compete together. Lesson 3: Part 4,5,6,7. I. Aim: By the end of the lesson, Ss will can use the words and phrases related to the topic free time; ask and answer questions about free time activities. II. Language content 1. Vocabulary: none 2. Sentence pattern: none 3. Skill: reading and writing skills III. Resources and teaching aids: teacher’s and students’ book, cassette, tape, board IV. Techniques: V. Procedure Warm up: Read the chant A. Basic activities 4. Read and draw lines to match. • Tell the class that they are going to read and draw lines to match the people with the things. Explain the meanings of the new words camp, forest, go hiking and return. • Tell them to look at the people and the things to match before reading the text. If necessary, get pupils to work in pairs or groups. • Give them time to do the task independently. Go around offering help, if necessary. • Get them to compare their answers in pairs before announcing the answers to the class. Provide explanations, if necessary. Key: 1 c 2 a 3 b 5. Project • Tell the class that they are going to interview two of their classmates about what they do in their free time. • Ask them to work in groups and copy the table below. Give them time to do their interviews in class and complete the table. Then ask individual pupils to report their results.
