- Week 26 Period 26 Tuesday, March 11th 2025 Unit 8: In the park Lesson 1 A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - pronounce the sound of the letter H/h in isolation and in the words hair, hand, head and horse correctly - Sound /H/h/ - Vocabulary: hair, hand, head and horse - Skills: speaking and listening 2. Competences: - Know how to practise some sounds. - Co-operation: ready to help friends in pair work/ group work. 3. Attitude/ Qualities: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students, love learning English B. METHODS: - Work in pairs, work in groups, ask and answer. - Communicative approach, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practicing, prediction. C. TEACHING AIDS: - Teacher: Posters, laptop, pictures, textbook, lesson plan, TV or projector. - Students: Textbooks, notebooks, workbooks, school things. D. PROCEDURES: Stages/Time Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Play game: Chatting 1.Warm- up: *Aims: to create a friendly and active (5’) atmosphere in the class to beginning the lesson. *Procedure: - Ss say: Hello. I’m + name. - Ask pupils to greet and introduce themselves, e.g. Hi, I’m Minh. -Ss sing the song
- - Spend a few minutes revising the previous lesson by asking the class to sing the song in Unit 7, Lesson 3 and -Ss open their book. clap their hands. - Have pupils open their books (saying Open the books, please!) and look at Unit 8, Lesson 1, Activity 1. 1. Listen and repeat: 2. Presentation *Aims: Ss will be able to pronounce (12’) the sound of the letter A/a in isolation and in the words apple, bag, can, hat correctly. *Procedure: -Look at the picture and listen. - Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. - Ask pupils to point to the letter H/h. Have them listen and repeat the sound of the letter H/h - Tell pupils to point to the hat and the word hat, saying Point to the hat and the word “hair”. Ask them to listen and repeat the word. -Point, listen and repeat. - Repeat the same procedure with the words head, hand, horse - Play the recording again and have -Ss listen and repeat. them listen, point to the letter H/h and the words head, hand, horse, hair and -SS listen, point and repeat. repeat until they feel confident. If they performed well, praise them, saying Well done! or Very good! - T gets feedback. Activity 3. *Play Word game -Ss look and listen.
- *Aims: Ss will be able to practise the -Ss play game. words they have learnt by playing the game in groups *Procedure: -SS play the game - Explain how to play the game, saying Listen to the teacher saying a sound and choose the words that contain that sound. - Divide the class into four groups and give each group five cards. -Ss check - Ask pupils in each group to hold the flashcards. Each pupil holds one card, the other pupils in the group observe and help them, if necessary. - Say one sound, for example /g/. The -Ss listen pupils who hold the cards with the words containing the sound /g/ (for example: girl, goat, gate, ...) run to the board and show them to the class. Follow the same procedure with other sounds. - Have the class look at the words and announce the winner 4. Homework. (2’) - Practice more at home. - Prepare for the next lesson.
