It indicating distance (Dùng it để nĩi về khoảng cách) (?) How far is it from + place 1 + to + place 2? (+) It is (+ about) + distance. 2. PRONUNCIATION Ending sound ed (Âm đuơi ed) Âm đuơi ed với động từ cĩ 3 cách phát âm: - Phát âm là /ıd/ khi động từ tận cùng bằng hai phụ âm /t/, /d/. - Phát âm là /t/ khi động từ tận cùng bằng các phụ âm vơ thanh /ch/, /p/, /f/, /s/, /k/, /th/, /ʃ/ /tʃ/. - Phát âm là /d/ đối với các trường hợp cịn lại. II. GRAMMAR 1. “ed” and “ing” adjectives (Tính từ đuơi -ed và đuơi -ing) - Tính từ cĩ thể được thành lập bằng cách thêm ed hoặc ing vào sau một số động từ. - Ta sử dụng tính từ dạng “V-ed” khi muốn diễn tả cảm giác, cảm xúc của một ai đĩ. Tính từ dạng “V-ed” thường dùng cho người. - Ta sử dụng tính từ dạng “V-ing” khi muốn miêu tả tính chất người, tính chất này là nguyên nhân gây ra xúc cảm. Tính từ thường được dùng cho vật. 2. Although, in spite of, despite (Cụm từ và mệnh đề chỉ sự tương phản) Ta sử dụng although, in spite of, despite với nghĩa “mặc dù” Although được theo sau bởi một mệnh đề gồm cả chủ ngữ và vị ngữ. Although + S + V, S + V In spite of và despite được theo sau bởi danh từ hoặc cụm danh từ. In spite of/ despite + Noun/ Noun phrase/ V-ing, S + V. Unit 9: FESTIVAL AROUND THE WORLD I. PRONUNCIATION Stress in two syllable words (Trọng âm của từ cĩ 2 âm tiết) II. GRAMMAR: Wh-question (Từ hỏi Wh) WHO: ai Who has given you this book? Nam has given me this book. WHAT: cái gì What is that? It’s a pencil. WHOM: ai Whom are you going shopping with? I’m going shopping with Mai. WHEN: khi nào When did you watch star Wars? I watched Star Wars last night. 1

Will + S + be + V-ing b. Usage Thì tương lai tiếp diễn được sử dụng để diễn tả hành động sẽ đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong tương lai. Ex: She will be having a piano lesson at this time tomorrow. 2. Future simple in passive (Thì tương lai đơn dạng bị động) Form (+)S + will be + V3 / V-ed (-) S + won’t be + V3 / V-ed (?) Will + S + be + V3 / V-ed Unit 11: TRAVELLING IN THE FUTURE I. PRONUNCIATION Rising intonation and falling intonation (Ngữ điệu đi lên và ngữ điệu đi xuống) - Đối với dạng câu hỏi yes/no - question: Chúng ta sử dụng ngữ điệu đi lên (Chúng ta lên giọng ở cuối câu.) - Đối với dạng câu hỏi Wh - question: Chúng ta sử dụng ngữ điệu đi xuống (Chúng ta xuống giọng ở cuối câu.) Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất  Hầu hết danh từ và tính từ cĩ 2 âm tiết thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. Ví dụ: Danh từ: present (/ˈprezənt/), export (/ˈekspɔːt/), China (/ˈtʃaɪnə/), table (/ˈteɪbl/) Tính từ: noisy (/ˈnɔɪzi/), slender (ˈslendər), clever (ˈklevər), happy (/ˈhỉpi/) • Đối với động từ nếu âm tiết thứ 2 chứa nguyên âm ngắn và kết thúc khơng nhiều hơn một phụ âm thì trọng âm sẽ rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. Ví dụ: enter (ˈentər), travel (ˈtrỉvəl), open (/ˈəʊpən/). • Các động từ cĩ âm tiết cuối chứa ow thì trọng âm cũng rơi vào âm tiết đầu. Ví dụ: follow (/ˈfɒləʊ/), borrow (/ˈbɒrəʊ/). • Các động từ 3 âm tiết cĩ âm tiết cuối chứa nguyên âm dài hoặc nguyên âm đơi hoặc kết thúc nhiều hơn một phụ âm thì âm tiết đầu nhận trọng âm. Ví dụ: paradise (/ˈpỉrədaɪs), exercise (ˈeksəsaɪz). 2. Trọng âm vào âm tiết thứ hai • Hầu hết động từ cĩ 2 âm tiết thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2. Ví dụ: export (/ɪkˈspɔːt/), decide (/dɪˈsaɪd/), begin (/bɪˈgɪn/). • Nếu âm tiết thứ 2 chứa nguyên âm dài, nguyên âm đơi hoặc kết thúc với nhiều hơn một phụ âm thì âm tiết đĩ nhận trọng âm. Ví dụ: provide (/prəɪvaɪd/), agree (əˈgri:/). • Đối với động từ 3 âm tiết quy tắc sẽ như sau: Nếu âm tiết cuối chứa nguyên âm ngắn hoặc kết thúc khơng nhiều hơn một nguyên âm thì âm tiết thứ 2 sẽ nhận trọng âm. Ví dụ: determine (/dɪˈtɜːmɪn/), remember (/rɪˈmembər/), encounter (/ɪnˈkaʊntər/). 3. Trọng âm rơi vào âm thứ 2 tính từ dưới lên • Những từ cĩ tận cùng bằng -ic, -sion, tion thì trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2 tính từ dưới lên. Những từ cĩ tận cùng bằng -ic: graphic (/ˈɡrỉfɪk/), geographic (/ˌdʒiəˈɡrỉfɪk/) Những từ cĩ tận cùng bằng -sion, tion: suggestion (/səˈdʒestʃən/), revelation (/ˌrevəˈleɪʃn/) Ngoại lệ: Television cĩ trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất. 4. Trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 3 từ dưới lên Các từ tận cùng bằng -ce, -cy, -ty, -phy, -gy thì trọng âm đều rơi vào âm tiết thứ 3 từ dưới lên. Ví dụ: democracy (/dɪˈmɒkrəsi/), dependability (/dɪpendəˈbɪlɪti/), photography (/fəˈtɒɡrəfi/), geology (/dʒiˈɒlədʒi/). Các từ tận cùng bằng -ical cũng cĩ trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ 3 tính từ dưới lên. Ví dụ: critical (/ˈkrɪtɪkəl/), geological (/dʒiəˈlɒdʒikəl/). II. GRAMMAR 1. Comparisions of quantifiers (So sánh về số lượng) a. Form S1 + V + more, fewer, less + noun + than + 3
  4. 2. Tag questions (Dạng câu hỏi tag question) a. Usage: câu hỏi đuơi cĩ 2 vế : vế 1 là câu trần thuật, vế 2 là dạng hỏi đuơi Ví dụ: - It’s raining now, isn’t it? - You won’t be lazy, will you? - Mary and John go to visit their parents once a month, don’t they? b. Forming tag question (Cách thành lập dạng câu hỏi đuơi) Ta áp dụng những quy tắc sau để tạo câu hỏi đuơi. - Sử dụng trợ động từ giống như ở mệnh đề chính để làm phần đuơi câu hỏi. - Nếu khơng cĩ trợ động từ thì dùng do, does, did để thay thế. - Nếu mệnh đề chính ở thể khẳng định thì phần đuơi ở thể phủ định, và ngược lại. - Thời của động từ ở đuơi phải theo thời của động từ ở mệnh đề chính. - Chủ ngữ của mệnh đề chính và của phần đuơi là giống nhau. Đại từ ở phần đuơi luơn phải để ở dạng chủ ngữ. - Phần đuơi nếu ở dạng phủ định thì thường được rút gọn (n’t).
