- I/ REVISION: KINDS OF REPORTED SPEECH 1/ Statements in Reported speech. S said that S said to O that + S + V (lùi thì). S told O that 2/ Yes – No questions in Reported Speech S + asked + (O) + if / whether + S + V (lùi thì). 3 / Wh – Questions in reported speech : S + asked + (O) + wh -word + S + V (lùi thì). S + wondered + wh - word + S + V(lùi thì). S + wanted to know + wh - word + S + V (lùi thì). 4/ Command/ request in Reported speech (+) “Would / Could / Will you + V ?” / Please + V S + told/asked + O + to V(inf) (-) “Don’t + V .”. S + told /asked+ O + not + to V(inf)
- II/ REPORTED SPEECH CASES USING “TO – V” 1. WARN :cảnh báo Ex: “Don’t play ball near the restricted area.” I said to the boy I warned the boy not to play ball near the restricted area / against playing ball near the restricted area Form: : S + warned + sb + to V/ not to V S + warned + sb + against + Ving 2. ADVICE: lời khuyên Ex: " You should drink more water " The doctor said to her. The doctor advised her to drink more water. " If I were you, I wouldnt buy that book " my friend said. My friend advised me not to buy that book. Form: S + advised + sb + to V/not to V 3. INVITE: mời Ex: Ann said: “Come to my place whenever you are free.” Ann invited me to come to her place whenever I was free. Form: S + invited + sb + to V
- 4. REMIND : Nhắc nhở ai làm gì Ex: “Don’t forget to phone me this afternoon,” he said. He reminded me to phone him that afternoon. Form: S + reminded + sb + to V 5. PROMISE : lời hứa Ex: " I will never do this again " He said to her. He promised her not to do that again. Form: S + promised + sb + to + V / not to V 6. OFFER : gợi ý làm gì giúp ai Ex: " Can I carry the bag for you " He said. He offered to carry the bag for me. Form: S+ offered + to + V
- III/ REPORTED SPEECH CASES USING “V-ing / HAVING PII” 1/ SUGGEST: đề nghị AI LÀM GÌ Ex: " Why don’t we go out for a walk?” said the boy. → The boy suggested going out for a walk. Form: S+ suggested + V- ing S+ suggested + that + S+ should+ V. 2 / REGRET : hối tiếc đã (không) làm gì Ex: " I wish I had visited her" said He He regretted not having visited/ visiting her. Form: S+ regretted + (not) + V- ing / having PII. 3/ CONGRATULATE : chúc mừng ai về việc gì Ex: “I’m happy to know that you win the game. Congratulations!”, Jim said to Mary. Jim congratulated Mary on winning the game. Form: S + congratulated + sb + on sth (a/an+ adj+ DT). S + congratulated + sb + on + Ving . 4/ THANK : cảm ơn ai vì việc gì Ex : “Thank you very for your help " She said to him She thanked him for his help . Form: S + thanked sb for st / doing sth / having PII.
- 5/ ACCUSE : buộc tội ai đã làm gì Ex: " You stole my bike ". He said He accused me of stealing / having stolen his bike Form: S+ accused + sb + of + V- ing / having PII. 6/ DENY: phủ nhận đã làm gì Ex: Peter said: “I didn’t steal the painting.” Peter denied stealing the painting. Form: S+ denied + V- ing / having PII. phủ nhận 7/ ADMIT : thừa nhận đã làm gì Ex: “I’ve made the wall dirty” said one student One student admitted making the wall dirty. Form: S+ admitted + V- ing / having PII. 8/ APOLOGISE : xin lỗi Ex: Ann said to her boss: “I’m sorry I’m late” Ann apologized to her boss for being late. Daisy dreamed of being a famous singer in the world. Form: S+ apologized + to + sb+ for (not) + V- ing / having PII.
