The past progressive / continuous tense (Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn) a./ formation ( công thức thành lập) (+) S + was/ were + Ving (-) S + was/ were not + Ving ( ?) Was/ Were + S + Ving • Chú ý: Khi S ( chủ ngữ) là các ngôi I, He, She, hoặc các danh từ chỉ số ít ta dùng “was” Còn lại các ngôi We, you , they và các danh từ chỉ số nhiều ta dung “ were” Ex: - I was watching TV at 7 last night - We were watching TV at 7 last night b./ Usage ( cách dùng): - Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn diễn tả 1 hành động đang diễn ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể trong quá khứ. Ex: at 7 o’clock last night ( “7 o’clock” là thời điểm cụ thể . “ last night” trong quá khứ) ( kiến thức củ các em đã học khi nhận thấy từ “ last night” các em sử dụng thì quá khứ đơn. Nhưng trước “ last night” có thêm điểm thời gian cụ thể nên ta sử dụng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn) - Các em nhận xét 2 câu sau: -

Bạn làm gì tối hôm qua ? tôi xem TV ( “ tối hôm qua”không có điểm thời gian cụ thể nên ta dung thì quá khứ đơn trong câu này) → What did you do last night? - I watched TV 2. Bạn làm gì lúc 7 giờ tối hôm qua ? Tôi xem TV ( “ 7 giờ tối hôm qua điểm thời gian cụ thể là 7 giờ nên ta dung thì quá khứ tiếp diễn trong câu này ) ➔ What were you doing at 7 o’clock last night? - I was watching TV Chú ý: các điểm thời gian cụ thể thường gặp để nhận biết: - At + giờ + ( last night / yesterday .) - From + giờ + to + giờ + ( _) - Between + giờ + and + giờ + ( .) - At this time + ( ) ( trên đây cô đã hướng dẫn cách dùng thứ nhất của thì quá khứ tiếp diễn, các em sẽ ho học tiếp ở bài sau) BÀI TẬP I./ WRITE SENTENCES WITH THE CUE WORDS, USING THE PROGRRESSIVE TENSE ( Viết câu với các từ gợi ý sử dụng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn) 1.
